The BBC sitcom franchise Ghosts transitioned to a feature film format with the release of ‘Ghosts: The Possession of Button House’. Creators and cast members noted that the film format allowed for the exploration of themes such as possession, which were difficult to address within the constraints of the original 30-minute sitcom episodes.

Upon its release, the horror-comedy debuted at the top of the UK and Ireland box office, earning £2.4 million ($3.2 million) during its opening weekend.
