The film ‘Lügen über meine Mutter’ (Lies About My Mother), directed by Aron Lehmann and co-written by actress Rosalie Thomass, is based on the bestseller by Daniela Dröscher. Set in a small West German town during the 1980s, the narrative explores themes of rigid gender roles, societal beauty standards, and the pressures placed on women. The story follows Cornelia, a woman facing body-shaming from her husband, Werner, regarding her weight.

Following its scheduled release in German cinemas on October 8, 2026, the film was presented by Thomass at the Star Movie cinema in Wels, Austria. During the presentation, Thomass described the work as a ‘monument’ to the invisible labor women perform in childcare and household organization, using the film to discuss resisting the oppression of women.
