Marie Kreutzer’s film, titled ‘Gentle Monster’ or ‘Monstro Gentil’, explores the psychological destruction of a family following the discovery of a husband’s involvement in pedocriminality. The narrative follows a woman, played by Léa Seydoux, who faces devastating accusations from police after the seizure of computers, challenging her understanding of her domestic life.

The production has been marked by controversy, specifically regarding supporting actor Florian Teichtmeister, who was held accountable in 2023 for the possession and production of pedocriminal depictions. The film’s themes were inspired by reports of a major child abuse network investigated in Germany, with the director consulting professionals to depict the emotional impact of such discoveries.
