Director Tina Romero has debuted her first film, “Queens of the Dead,” a queer-centric zombie comedy. The film is set within a club environment and follows characters, including a drag queen and a DJ, as they navigate personal conflicts and a zombie outbreak.

Described as a “cheerful, non-heteronormative, electro-poppy” work, the movie blends horror with drag culture and nightlife aesthetics. It utilizes a colorful, kitsch-driven style that incorporates glitter and glamour alongside gore. The narrative serves as a commentary on modern social issues, including influencer narcissism, smartphone addiction, the opioid epidemic, and identity politics.
