Spanish authorities have conducted investigations and arrests related to the theft of religious items and artworks across different regions.

In El Saucejo, suspects were arrested for a December 2025 theft involving high-value jewelry from the image of the Virgen del Rosario. The perpetrators reportedly caused physical damage to the religious image and manipulated the sanctuary’s Tabernacle. The Guardia Civil indicated the suspects may belong to an organization linked to similar thefts in multiple provinces, though the jewelry remains unrecovered.

In Valladolid, National Police recovered three religious artworks, including a 17th-century gilded carving and a painting copy, following the arrest of a suspect in September. While some items were returned, authorities continue to search for a 19th-century polychrome wooden carving stolen from the San Felipe Neri church.
