Legal proceedings regarding the Renukaswamy murder case in Bangalore have centered on applications from accused individuals seeking approver status. Initially, the 14th accused, Pradosh, applied to be declared a “maafi sakshi” (approver), while two other accused, Ravishankar and Vinay, also filed petitions to be treated as approvers. Subsequently, the Karnataka High Court rejected a petition by actor Darshan, who is currently jailed as the second accused. Darshan had attempted to intervene in the legal process to challenge the ability of co-accused individuals to seek approver status without hearing objections from others. Justice M. Nagaprasanna ruled that co-accused individuals lack the legal right to intervene or argue against another person seeking such status. Following these legal developments, Darshan’s wife, Vijayalakshmi, stated on social media that “God knows enough” regarding their situation.

In a significant development, the 59th City Civil and Sessions Court has granted permission to Pradosh S Rao to turn approver. This allows him to serve as a prosecution witness in exchange for a pardon, contingent upon full and truthful disclosure. In his application, Pradosh alleged that Darshan pressured him to assist in moving the body and attempted to conceal the incident. Following the court's decision, Darshan approached the Karnataka High Court to challenge the ruling and seek a stay on the order.

Most recently, the 59th City Civil and Sessions Court deferred the recording of Pradosh’s statement until September 7. This postponement follows a request from Special Public Prosecutor Prasanna P. Kumar, pending an order from the Karnataka High Court regarding Darshan’s challenge to the approver status.
