The United Arab Emirates has granted approval for the oral use of Rinvoq (upadacitinib) to treat non-segmental vitiligo. This marks the first time the medication has been approved for oral use for this condition globally. 

The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) authorized the treatment for adults and adolescents aged 12 and older who require systemic therapy. Rinvoq acts as a Janus kinase inhibitor to regulate immune system hyperactivity and block inflammatory signals. The medication is administered as a once-daily oral pill.
