Portuguese I Liga club Rio Ave appointed Vasco Seabra as head coach following the dismissal of Sotiris Silaidopoulos. Seabra, who joined from Arouca, reportedly required a release clause payment of approximately one million euros to secure his services.

In his competitive debut, Seabra led Rio Ave to a 3-2 home victory against Nacional. Despite being reduced to ten players after the expulsion of João Tomé in the 54th minute, Rio Ave secured the win through goals from Clemmensen, Bezerra, and Blesa. The result moved Rio Ave to 14th place in the league standings.
