RM, the leader of the K-pop group BTS, has expanded his involvement in the arts through philanthropic donations and museum curation. He donated 100 million won to the National Museum of Korea to support the acquisition of cultural artifacts while serving as a global ambassador for the institution.

In early October 2026, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) opened the exhibition ‘RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me’. Co-curated by RM alongside América Castillo and Hyoeun Kim, the exhibit runs through February 7, 2027. The showcase features nearly 200 modern and contemporary works, including 142 pieces from RM’s personal collection—such as paintings, calligraphy, sculpture, and a Pokémon animation cel—alongside 36 selections from the museum’s permanent holdings.

The collection places Korean modernists like Yun Hyong-keun, Chang Ucchin, and Kim Whan-ki in dialogue with international artists including Mark Rothko, Yves Klein, and Georgia O’Keeffe. The exhibition utilizes audio guides with RM’s commentary and features murals of his handwriting to explore themes of nature, serenity, and the human experience. The project has seen significant commercial success, with advance ticket sales reported to be six times higher than any previous exhibition at the institution, totaling over 66,000 tickets sold.
