A series of traffic accidents on the Lubumbashi-Likasi-Kolwezi road axis in Haut-Katanga has resulted in more than 30 deaths over a ten-day period. Major incidents included a collision between an Alphard vehicle and a truck in Tumbwe, as well as a minibus collision near the 55th kilometer.

Police spokesperson Major Charles Bin Lwamba attributed the fatalities to driver intoxication and a high volume of diverse vehicle types on the route. In response, Divisional Commissioner Blaise Kilimbalimba has ordered increased road safety measures and stricter controls to curb dangerous driving behaviors.
