Alice in Chains musician Jerry Cantrell debuted a new, closely-cropped short haircut, which was revealed in a photo taken backstage at the Aerosmith and Friends concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Cantrell had previously noted in 2018 that changing his appearance after 25 years had resulted in unexpected fan backlash.

Following this change, Testament vocalist Chuck Billy debuted a new short hairstyle via social media. Billy stated the change was intended to help him feel “fresh and new” and credited Cantrell for inspiring the decision, noting that seeing Cantrell’s recent haircut gave him the “strength and the energy and the nerve to cut it all off.”
