Mexican defender Rodrigo Huescas has begun his return to competitive football for FC Copenhagen following a year-long absence caused by a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

His comeback started with a appearance in a friendly match against Hamburger SV, where he played the first half before being substituted as part of a minute management strategy. Huescas described the appearance as ‘the first step’ in his recovery.

Following the friendly, Huescas made his official return to European competition as a substitute during a UEFA Conference League match against Sporting Braga. He played approximately 26 minutes in the 3-0 victory for FC Copenhagen.
