Rogelio Alfonso Genao Lanza, a deputy representing La Vega, has resigned from the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC) after 37 years of membership. Genao stated his departure was due to the party being in a “limbo” lacking clear direction, leadership, and engagement with younger generations.

Following the resignation, PRSC President Federico Antún Batlle claimed that Genao had unsuccessfully sought the position of General Secretary and had declined other leadership roles. Genao, however, maintained that his decision stemmed from a lack of political renewal within the organization. He intends to remain in office as an independent legislator, noting that while he has received interest from other political groups, he has not yet announced a new affiliation.
