The National Bank of Romania (BNR) and the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) have announced the release of new commemorative coins.

In Romania, the BNR is introducing a new numismatic series titled ‘Romanian Painters’. The inaugural release is a silver coin dedicated to artist Nicolae Tonitza to mark the 140th anniversary of his birth. This specific coin is notable for being the first rectangular-shaped coin issued by the BNR.
