The probe examines claims that political and administrative figures were pressured to replace the director of the Vaslui Sanitary-Veterinary Directorate to facilitate a €3 million compensation claim and reduce sanitary inspections at Bogos’s poultry farms. Initial investigations involved Cristina Trăilă, former Deputy Secretary General of the Government, who is a suspect accused of complicity in using authority for undue benefits. Valeriu Iftime, President of the Botoșani County Council, was also summoned as a witness regarding his professional relationships with food safety officials. The investigation expanded to include Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, who was summoned to testify as a witness. Prosecutors are scrutinizing a meeting between Bogos and Bolojan at Victoria Palace to determine if political connections were used to overturn veterinary sanctions. The political party AUR has characterized the legal action as a potential political attempt to pressure Bolojan following his calls for early elections. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-01: Ilie Bolojan summoned by DNA Iași in influence peddling probe Acting PM Ilie Bolojan has been summoned by DNA Iași to testify regarding an influence peddling investigation involving businessman Fănel Bogos and allegations of political interference. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ilie-bolojan-summoned-by-dna-iai-in-influence-peddling-probe ### 2026-09-15: Fănel Bogos corruption case leads to DNA hearings for political figures Romania's DNA is investigating businessman Fănel Bogos for influence peddling.
