Romanian municipalities are undertaking significant investments to modernize and expand district heating infrastructure.

In Brașov, the Serviciul Public Local de Termoficare has initiated a tender for a project valued at approximately 7.04 million lei to connect hotels and wellness centers in the Gara – Coresi area to the central network. This initiative is expected to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 429 tons.

In Bacău, the local administration is pursuing a 65.84 million lei investment to connect several thermal power plants to the centralized system (SACET). The project aims to improve energy efficiency and modernize the network. The municipality plans to fund 15% of the costs locally and is seeking 85% non-reimbursable funding from the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, with implementation targeted for 2026–2027.
