Romania has experienced several railway disruptions involving locomotive failures and infrastructure damage.

In early September, a diesel locomotive fire occurred at Buftea Station, necessitating the de-energization of contact lines between Periș and Chitila. During the same period, a tree falling on contact lines in the Timișoara region caused further service stoppages for electric trains.

Later in the month, the international train IRN 461 was halted on the Giurgiu-Ruse railway bridge due to a technical problem with its locomotive. The stoppage occurred on the Bulgarian section of the bridge, requiring maintenance teams to inspect and repair the engine before travel could resume.
