Romanian students and young athletes have achieved various international and national successes across sports, science, and engineering.

In early October, 17-year-old archer Daria Graur qualified for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games after achieving a career-best score. Simultaneously, a Romanian team earned five medals—three gold and two silver—at the 19th International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in Hanoi, Vietnam.

By mid-October, recognition continued in technical fields. The SOLIS team from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca won the SAB 2026 national scholarship for Hyperion, Romania’s first solar car. Additionally, students from Babeș-Bolyai University received honors at the BRAIT 2026 competition, including a ‘Best Thesis Award’ for research regarding autonomous driving topology reasoning.
