The upcoming Superliga derby between FCSB and Rapid at Arena Națională remains a focal point of the league. Rapid enters the match in second place with 27 points, maintaining a five-match winning streak and remaining unbeaten in the league since mid-August. Rapid coach Daniel Pancu has dismissed claims that his side is the favorite, calling such perceptions “a stupidity” and emphasizing the intensity of the rivalry. FCSB, currently in 6th place under manager Laurențiu Reghecampf, aims to regain momentum. The club has undergone significant roster changes, with nine players departing since their last encounter in 2025, including Darius Olaru and Florin Tănase. Despite these shifts, FCSB official Mihai Stoica expressed confidence in his squad, stating, “I consider our squad much superior to Rapid’s.” Club owner Gigi Becali has signaled intentions to increase the club's annual budget to approximately 20 million euros to ensure competitiveness in European competitions. Following the return of Reghecampf, FCSB has secured recent victories and moved into a play-off position. Becali has identified Risto Radunovic’s new role in midfield as a potential tactical advantage for the derby. Furthermore, Becali announced a shift in transfer strategy, stating he will no longer recruit players from domestic rival Dinamo, opting instead to invest in foreign talent. Regarding player movements, defender Joyskim Dawa is reportedly negotiating an exit from the club. Additionally, Becali addressed the previous departure of Florin Tănase, citing tensions regarding the player's business interests and conduct as the primary reasons for the split. Former goalkeeper Bogdan Lobonț suggested Rapid holds the advantage due to their recent form and consistency. As the 13th round of the 2026-2027 season approaches, the derby is expected to draw between 30,000 and 35,000 spectators. Rapid sits just two points behind league leaders Dinamo.
