Prince William and Princess Kate conducted a visit to Belfast, Northern Ireland, to support social initiatives aimed at combating youth homelessness. The couple visited The Commons, a former church being transformed into a community center, to meet with members of the New Employment Opportunities Network. This project is part of Homewards, a five-year program launched by Prince William to provide stability and employment prospects for vulnerable young people.

The New Employment Opportunities Network serves as a pilot employment project in Northern Ireland designed to help young people gain job skills, stability, and long-term independence. There are plans to expand this concept to four additional locations across the United Kingdom.

Homewards aims to connect organizations, businesses, and communities to develop long-term solutions for those at risk of losing their homes. The initiative focuses on assisting young people in securing employment and building the self-confidence necessary to establish professional stability.

During the visit, the Princess of Wales utilized ‘diplomatic dressing’ through her choice of attire. She wore a green tartan midi skirt by Emilia Wickstead, paired with a black coat and an ivory blouse. Analysts noted the potential symbolic connection to the ‘Ulster tartan’ and the deep green colors associated with Irish heritage.

The couple also made an appearance at an IKEA store. During a 50-minute stop, Princess Kate received training from an employee on operating a payment terminal and assisted customers at the checkout, while Prince William interacted with staff and browsed the confectionery aisles.
