# AC Milan targeting departures of Tomori and Loftus-Cheek > Live situation record from CLSTR: https://clstr.news/situations/ruben-loftus-cheek-performance-and-contract-status-at-ac-mil > Updated: 2026-10-24T22:02:52.000Z. Sources: 21. Developments: 8. AC Milan is reportedly preparing to downsize its workforce by allowing Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori to depart. The club’s leadership is allegedly deciding not to extend the contracts of the two English internationals, which are set to expire in June 2027. This move is driven by financial objectives, as their departures could save the club nearly 10 million euros in gross annual salaries and free up resources to recruit players more closely aligned with manager Ruben Amorim’s tactical project. Loftus-Cheek has struggled to secure a regular starting position and has faced scrutiny regarding his performance levels. Statistical data from the start of the Serie A season indicates he recorded the lowest running distance among players with significant minutes, leading Milan to freeze contract renewal negotiations. If a performance turnaround does not occur, he may leave the club as a free agent in June, though several Premier League clubs and Juventus are monitoring the situation. Tomori has also faced limited playing time and has yet to feature in competitive action this season. While he was reintegrated into the squad after Milan failed to secure other defensive reinforcements, his future remains uncertain. To avoid losing both players for free, AC Milan has reportedly offered Tottenham Hotspur the opportunity to sign the duo during the January transfer window. Newcastle United and Tottenham have since made formal enquiries regarding the pair. Newcastle is specifically monitoring the 28-year-old defender to address defensive vulnerabilities under manager Matthias Jaissle, seeking experienced support for Dan Burn and Fabian Schär. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-24: Newcastle and Tottenham target AC Milan duo for January Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have enquired about AC Milan's Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek for potential January transfers. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/newcastle-and-tottenham-target-ac-milan-duo-for-january ### 2026-10-20: Newcastle United targets Fikayo Tomori to strengthen defense Newcastle United is targeting AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori for a January move to bolster a defense struggling under manager Matthias Jaissle. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/newcastle-united-targets-fikayo-tomori-to-strengthen-defense ### 2026-10-18: Newcastle United targeting AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori Newcastle United is reportedly leading the race to sign AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori as a free agent next summer after he falls out of manager Ruben Amorim’s plans. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/newcastle-united-targeting-ac-milan-defender-fikayo-tomori ### 2026-10-09: Fikayo Tomori faces potential January exit from AC Milan AC Milan is reportedly looking to sell defender Fikayo Tomori in the winter transfer window, despite his recent reintegration into the squad following failed summer exit attempts. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fikayo-tomori-faces-potential-january-exit-from-ac-milan ### 2026-10-02: Tottenham offered AC Milan duo Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek AC Milan has reportedly offered Tottenham Hotspur the chance to sign Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek this January as the players enter the final stages of their contracts. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/tottenham-offered-ac-milan-duo-fikayo-tomori-and-ruben-loftus-cheek ### 2026-09-30: AC Milan targeting departures of Tomori and Loftus-Cheek AC Milan is reportedly planning the departures of Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to save nearly 10 million euros in annual salaries and restructure the squad. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ac-milan-targeting-departures-of-tomori-and-loftus-cheek ### 2026-09-27: Ruben Loftus-Cheek faces uncertain future at AC Milan AC Milan has paused contract renewal talks with Ruben Loftus-Cheek amid performance concerns.
