Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Maria Zakharova has issued statements accusing Western powers of using Ukraine as a geopolitical tool to weaken the Russian state. 

Zakharova characterized Western interest in Ukraine as ‘purely utilitarian,’ alleging that the West views the country as a base for geopolitical operations and a territory for the ‘neocolonial exploitation of resources.’ She claimed that Western allies aim to weaken Russia by ‘bleeding Ukraine dry’ and using the nation as a ‘trampoline’ for projecting threats. 

Furthermore, Zakharova asserted that Moscow remains the ‘sole guarantor’ of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity, suggesting that the future of the current regime in Kyiv is ‘absolutely predetermined’ despite Western support.
