Following his transfer from FC Tokyo to Valencia CF, Japanese midfielder Ryunosuke Sato initially received praise from manager Javier Aguirre. After Sato departed the Japan national team early to rejoin his club, Aguirre described him as an “electric player” and noted his rapid technical and linguistic progress.

However, Sato’s integration into the squad has since faced difficulties. After appearing in the first five matches of the season under former manager Carlos Corberan, Sato has not played in the four subsequent matches following a change in leadership. Under interim manager Oscar Sanchez and the newly appointed Aguirre, Sato has remained on the bench. Spanish media outlet MARCA reported that the player has “disappeared from the rotation,” leading to questions regarding the club’s €4 million investment.

Recent reports suggest a potential return to action. According to Superdeporte, Sato may be given a starting opportunity in the upcoming Copa del Rey first-round match against Tabernes, as Aguirre looks to rest regular players. Although Sato is currently registered with the reserve team, the match could serve as a chance for him to regain his position in the first team.
