To address public needs, the state government is utilizing RM7 billion in annual revenue to fund projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan, targeting improvements in water supply, roads, and electricity. A key economic component includes the proposed Blue Economy Industrial Park in Kudat, intended to foster maritime development and trade with regional partners such as China, South Korea, Japan, and the Philippines. Parallel to these economic goals, the state government is calling for strengthened maritime border security in the Kudat region, specifically around Banggi and Balambangan Islands. This follows shifts in regional military activity.
