Sage Arias-Brown, 33, was charged with second-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of his father, 69-year-old Edward Brown, in Mastic, Long Island. Prosecutors allege that Arias-Brown broke into his father’s apartment and stabbed him repeatedly in the chest and abdomen. During the incident, Edward Brown managed to call 911, and authorities later released details from the call in which he was heard screaming, “I’m being murdered. What are you doing to me, Sage?”

Arias-Brown was arrested near the scene shortly after the attack. While his attorney noted a history of mental illness, Arias-Brown pleaded not guilty during his arraignment and was held without bail. Following an indictment, he faces a potential sentence of 25 years to life if convicted.
