Following the death of actor Sam Neill on July 13, 2026, at age 78 due to pneumonia, it has been confirmed that he will make a posthumous appearance in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda." 

His performance for the production was completed three months prior to his death. While his specific character remains undisclosed, the film is a joint production between Nintendo and Sony, directed by Wes Ball, and is scheduled for a worldwide release in April 2027 with streaming on Netflix. The cast also includes Yvonne Strahovski, Dichen Lachman, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Bo Bragason, and Uli Latukefu.

In addition to the Zelda project, Neill's final released works include a role in "Godzilla x Kong: Supernova" and voice work for the Australian comedy "The Fox."
