Sources: 52. Developments: 3. Sampdoria is preparing for an upcoming league match against Avellino scheduled for October 9. Following an international break, manager Bernardo Corradi has focused on improving defensive solidity and offensive production. Initial reports indicated availability challenges due to international call-ups for players including Antoine Makoumbou, Andrey Krastev, Tjas Begic, and Dan Sinani. While Begic was expected to return shortly after his national duties, later updates confirmed he is scheduled to participate in final training sessions despite travel fatigue. However, the squad faced a significant setback with Dan Sinani, who suffered a serious injury requiring reconstructive surgery, leading the club to consider waiting until the January transfer window for replacements. Ahead of the match at Stadio Partenio, Corradi reported that 16 outfield players have participated in training without restrictions. This includes players previously considered long-term injured, such as Ravanelli, Depaoli, and Makoumbou. Additionally, Karamoh and Mbabu are available for selection following personalized training programs, with Corradi noting that Karamoh has reached an “acceptable level of fitness to potentially start the match.” Former defender Moreno Mannini expressed cautious optimism regarding the team’s tactical direction under Corradi, suggesting the approach shows potential for a playoff push. Mannini identified Begic and Esposito as key players capable of providing leadership for the squad. On October 9, the match at Partenio-Lombardi stadium resulted in a 4-1 defeat for Sampdoria in their Serie B season opener. Avellino secured a dominant victory, scoring four goals within the first 30 minutes through Cheddira, Palumbo, Russo, and Besaggio. Sampdoria’s lone highlight was an 18th-minute strike from Lorenzo Insigne, which briefly leveled the score at 1-1. However, defensive errors and instability, particularly involving goalkeeper Stefan Gartenmann, allowed Avellino to regain control. ## Claims - Avellino defeated Sampdoria 4-1 in a Serie B match.
