Binational cultural and athletic events have been organized to connect communities in Southern California and Baja California.

In late September 2026, the third edition of the San Diego Tijuana Jazz Festival was announced as a four-day binational event. The programming included free concerts in Tijuana, featuring various ensembles and performers such as the Binational Youth Ensemble Young Lions Jazz Conservatory and Panamanian pianist Danilo Pérez.

Following this, the third annual Binational Race San Diego-Tijuana took place on October 25, 2026. The race involved over 4,500 runners from 11 countries, crossing the international border from San Ysidro, California, to Playas de Tijuana. The event was used by Baja California’s Secretariat of Tourism to promote regional gastronomy and culture through the ‘Baja California es para ti’ pavilion.
