The state of San Luis Potosí is pursuing various administrative, infrastructure, and security initiatives under Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona. 

In the realm of public policy, the state has advanced educational reforms, including the regulation of mobile devices in basic education and the ‘Apoyo Seguro al Estudiante’ insurance program for over 500,000 students. Infrastructure developments include a 77 billion peso high-speed passenger rail project connecting Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, and Saltillo, alongside plans for a free metropolitan suburban train.

Additionally, the state is coordinating significant security and traffic management operations for major public events. Regarding the 2026 Carrera Panamericana classic car race, San Luis Potosí will host stages 6 and 7. On October 21, approximately 60 classic vehicles are expected to arrive at Plaza de Armas in the Historic Center. The local Highway Police will implement a security and traffic device to manage the arrival, featuring an escorted route through several major avenues and temporary road closures. An exhibition of antique and collector cars will also be held at Pasaje Zaragoza. For stage 7 on October 22, participants will gather at Parque Bicentenario for a scheduled departure toward the state of Zacatecas.

Previous security operations have included deploying over 900 personnel for the ‘Estadio Seguro’ operation during a football match between Atlético de San Luis and Querétaro.
