San Miguel de Allende held a series of community and religious festivities in late 2026.

In mid-September, the municipality hosted a community fair featuring a circus, ice rink, and dinosaur expo. To encourage attendance, municipal president Mauricio Trejo provided free admission for the first weekend and organized free transportation via 32 buses for residents of surrounding communities. Security services reported a generally peaceful weekend, despite eight arrests for public intoxication and aggressive behavior.

The celebrations concluded in early October with patron saint festivities that drew approximately 26,663 attendees. Key events included the traditional Alborada in the Historic Center and a three-hour procession of 80 dance groups featuring ceremonial Xúchiles structures. Security authorities reported a “saldo blanco” (no major incidents), noting that while 29 individuals were referred to authorities for administrative infractions, no significant security breaches occurred.

Following these events, the municipality reported that the 2026 San Miguel Fair concluded with over 260,000 attendees. Authorities noted the event remained peaceful, utilizing drone surveillance and biometric technology to maintain a “saldo blanco”. Additionally, the city received international recognition in the 2026 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, ranking fourth among the best small cities in the world, an improvement from its fifth-place position in 2025.
