Tomasz Matuszewski, the Mayor of Sanok, has been suspended from his duties by the District Prosecutor's Office in Rzeszów following allegations of active bribery.

The investigation centers on an incident allegedly occurring in early 2025, during which Matuszewski reportedly offered a city councilor a position within a municipal company. This offer was purportedly made to secure the councilor’s support in City Council votes and to assist in recruiting other council members to align with the mayor’s interests.

Matuszewski has denied all accusations, describing the investigation as a “politically inspired game” by his opponents. He has announced his intention to appeal the suspension in court, maintaining that the decision is not a verdict and that evidence must establish the truth.
