Preparations for the 2027 Holy Year (Xacobeo) in Santiago de Compostela have commenced, with Archbishop Francisco José Prieto introducing the theme “Al ver la estrella se llenaron de inmensa alegría.” Galician officials have begun highlighting the Camino de Santiago as a vital cultural and spiritual corridor to prepare for the influx of pilgrims.

Efforts to promote the event have expanded internationally through cooperation with Córdoba, Argentina. Officials from the Xunta de Galicia met with local leadership to discuss strengthening ties between the Camino de Santiago and the Camino de Brochero. This partnership aims to leverage Galician expertise in pilgrimage routes to promote religious tourism and encourage the local diaspora to participate in the upcoming Xacobeo 2027.
