The Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) has undertaken several infrastructure projects to improve water, sewage, and drainage systems in the Dominican Republic. In late September, the institution completed the paving of over 12,000 square meters of streets and avenues across Greater Santo Domingo. This work followed excavations required to repair water and sewage network malfunctions, install new piping, and rehabilitate existing systems in sectors including Mirador Sur, San Carlos, and Ciudad Colonial. By early October, CAASD launched a sanitation initiative in the Los Alcarrizos municipality targeting eight ravines. This 1.16 billion peso project aims to improve storm and sanitary drainage for more than 72,000 residents through waste cleaning, the installation of culverts and pipes, and the reconstruction of sidewalks, roads, and lighting. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-06: Regional water and sanitation infrastructure projects underway in Caribbean and South America Authorities in the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Cuba are launching sanitation, drainage, and reforestation projects to improve public water services and mitigate flood risks. 15 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/los-alcarrizos-sanitation-project-begins-in-dominican-republic ### 2026-09-20: CAASD paves 12,000 square meters of streets in Santo Domingo The CAASD has paved over 12,500 square meters of streets in Greater Santo Domingo following repairs to water and sewage infrastructure across various sectors. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/caasd-asphalted-12000-square-meters-of-streets-in-santo-domingo --- Cite as: Santo Domingo water and sanitation infrastructure works.
