Initially, the region launched the FAST (Fare Sport Tutti) program, a three-year, 12.5 million euro initiative designed to provide sports vouchers to minors and vulnerable individuals to combat social isolation and educational poverty. Due to receiving approximately 30,000 applications, officials indicated that current funding would only cover about 8,400 beneficiaries, prompting requests for additional European Social Fund Plus resources. Following this, the region allocated 30 million euros specifically for disability assistance in schools. This funding, sourced from the Studis and Princ06 tenders, is intended to provide specialized support for students, particularly those aged zero to six. This allocation follows union protests regarding resource shortages for students with severe disabilities. However, Regional Councilor Ilaria Portas noted that the region has simultaneously faced cuts to administrative, technical, and auxiliary personnel. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-28: EIB and Intesa Sanpaolo launch 300 million euro housing initiative The EIB and Intesa Sanpaolo have launched a 300 million euro initiative to fund affordable housing and student residences in Italy, potentially mobilizing up to 600 million euros in total investments. 11 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sardinia-allocates-30-million-euros-for-disability-assistance-in-schools ### 2026-09-17: Sardinia receives 30,000 applications for sports inclusion program Sardinia's FAST sports inclusion program received 30,000 applications, far exceeding the 8,400 currently funded slots for the year.
