Weedmark has denied using public funds, asserting that the flights were paid for out of his own pocket because driving would have been impractical. He characterized the opposition’s accusations as a “blatant lie” and a smear attempt. 

The NDP, led by health critic Meara Conway, has criticized the politician as being “out of touch” and is demanding that Weedmark provide receipts to verify his claims. The opposition is also investigating a separate flight from June 2025 involving a jet with a registration number linked to the social media footage.
