Savannah police are investigating the theft of a $90,000 BMW X5 from the Hyatt Regency Savannah. Authorities report that on August 14, a suspect—described as a Black man between 20 and 30 years old—allegedly posed as a professional basketball player to deceive valet staff. The suspect reportedly claimed to have multiple vehicles parked at the hotel to facilitate the theft.

The stolen BMW was a loaner vehicle belonging to a local dealership. Investigators have tracked the vehicle to the 2100 block of North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 

Surveillance footage also linked the suspect to a white Audi A5 that had been reported stolen the day before the BMW theft. Additionally, detectives believe the individual may be connected to a separate vehicle theft involving a Toyota C-HR at a Fairfield Inn on August 5. Police have released surveillance images and are seeking public assistance to identify the suspect.
