Savencia Fromage & Dairy, the French multinational owner of the Milkaut and Ilolay brands, has announced the closure of its cheese production plant in El Trébol, Santa Fe, Argentina. The facility is scheduled to cease operations on March 31, 2027.

The company cited several operational and environmental factors for the decision, including obsolete production lines, low processing scales, the distance between the plant and milk suppliers, and environmental management requirements for exports. The property has been placed up for sale.

The closure affects 54 employees. Savencia has offered staff several options, including relocation to one of the company’s other six plants in Santa Fe, voluntary retirement, early retirement, or severance packages. The Argentine Dairy Industry Workers Association (ATILRA) has confirmed the announcement.
