Initial celebrations included a gala at the Hotel El Dorado, where SAYCO President Rafael Manjarrez presented the Santa Cecilia Order to singer-songwriter Arelys Henao for her 30-year career. The organization also issued a posthumous tribute to artist and composer Yeison Jiménez. SAYCO, which represents nearly 10,000 authors, composers, and editors, used the occasion to highlight its history and social support efforts for members. Further celebrations were scheduled for October 28 at the Teatro Colsubsidio, featuring a philharmonic concert directed by Raúl Rosero Polo. The SAYCO Philharmonic Orchestra is set to perform a repertoire of emblematic works, such as ‘Fantasía Tropical’, ‘Colombia Tierra Querida’, and ‘Luna Sanjuanera’. The program aims to honor Colombian musical heritage and includes contributions from various artists and folklore groups, including Nikoyembe, the children’s group El Convite, Katie James, Francy, Walter Silva, and Checo Acosta. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-22: SAYCO to celebrate 80 years with philharmonic concert in Bogotá SAYCO will mark 80 years of copyright management with a philharmonic concert in Bogotá on October 28, honoring Colombian musical legacy. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sayco-to-celebrate-80-years-with-philharmonic-concert-in-bogot ### 2026-09-22: SAYCO celebrates 80 years of defending Colombian musical copyright The Society of Authors and Composers of Colombia (SAYCO) celebrated 80 years of defending copyright with a gala in Bogotá, honoring artists like Arelys Henao and the late Yeison Jiménez. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sayco-celebrates-80-years-of-defending-colombian-musical-copyright --- Cite as: SAYCO 80th anniversary celebrations.
