Throughout July and August 2026, European companies continued a trend of share buy-backs, particularly within the Scandinavian financial and industrial sectors.

In the banking and financial sector, several Nordic institutions reported significant activity. DNB Bank ASA, which launched a programme in July 2026 to repurchase up to 1.0% of its share capital (not exceeding NOK 4,755 million), reported purchasing 657,012 shares during week 36 at an average price of NOK 319. This brings its total repurchased shares to 5,717,202, or 0.40% of the company.

Danske Bank A/S continued its DKK 4.5 billion programme, reporting 73,679 shares repurchased during week 34, bringing its total accumulated shares to 6,941,622, or 0.851% of its share capital.

Jyske Bank continued its repurchase programme, which began on 5 February 2026 and is scheduled to conclude by 29 January 2027. During the week of 24 August 2026, the bank repurchased 53,588 shares at an average price of approximately 1,075.42 DKK, bringing its total treasury holdings to 1,862,501 shares, or 3.20% of its share capital.

Sydbank also maintained activity, acquiring 30,000 shares between 17 and 21 August 2026. Finnish financial group Sampo plc expanded its activity under a programme launched in May 2026, bringing its total holdings to 23,606,613 A shares (0.89% of total shares) by week 33.

Other notable activity included Gabriel Holding A/S, which reported repurchasing 6,650 shares for a total of 61,759 treasury shares (3.27% of issued shares) by early September 2026. ISS A/S, FLSmidth & Co. A/S, A.P. Møller–Mærsk A/S, STMicroelectronics N.V., Schneider Electric, Netcompany Group A/S, and Shell plc also participated in buy-back trends.
