Stadtreinigung Leipzig has initiated an e-waste collection competition for schools to promote awareness regarding the value of raw materials in discarded electronics. The program encourages students to treat old devices as resources rather than waste.

Five selected schools will be provided with large collection containers for a period running from October 26 to November 6. For safety reasons, the competition mandates that all collected devices must be free of batteries or accumulators. The school that collects the highest number of devices will be recognized during the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWAV) between November 21 and 29.
