Sources: 3. Developments: 2. Educational leaders in the Dominican Republic and Peru have reported significant shortages of essential student resources. In the Dominican Republic, the Association of Dominican Teachers (ADP) highlighted a lack of potable water, cleaning supplies, and academic materials. In the Loreto region of Peru, directors of student residential institutions reported that budgeted hygiene, cleaning, and first-aid kits have not been delivered, affecting students from rural and impoverished communities. By November, the situation in the Dominican Republic intensified. The ADP reported that schools in the Cibao region, including provinces such as Samaná, Duarte, and Hermanas Mirabal, had not received decentralization funds from the Ministry of Education for over six months. This funding gap resulted in critical shortages of drinking water and toilet paper, forcing some schools to dismiss students at midday. Additionally, school directors faced difficulties maintaining facilities as suppliers refused to extend credit due to accumulated debts. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-03: Schools in Dominican Republic's Cibao region face six-month funding shortage Teachers in the Dominican Republic report that schools in the Cibao region have lacked Ministry of Education funds for over six months, causing shortages of water and basic hygiene supplies. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/schools-in-dominican-republics-cibao-region-face-six-month-funding-shortage ### 2026-10-22: Educational leaders in Dominican Republic and Peru report resource shortages Teachers and school directors in the Dominican Republic and Peru are demanding urgent government action to address critical shortages of hygiene, cleaning, and academic supplies in schools. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/educational-leaders-in-dominican-republic-and-peru-report-resource-shortages --- Cite as: School resource shortages in Dominican Republic and Peru.
