Screenrights has announced the distribution of $293,400 through its 2026 Cultural Fund under the theme ‘Learning Through Story’. The funding is directed toward six projects in Australia and New Zealand intended to enhance diversity and education within the screen industry.

In Australia, funding supports Young Yarnz for a digital classroom platform featuring First Nations knowledge holders, Studio Gilay for an initiative to increase Indigenous representation in animation, and Brock Casting Services for a training program titled ‘Lights On: Story-Led Learning for Disabled Creatives’.

New Zealand recipients include Nine Islands Media for a Māori and Pasifika Impact Producing Lab, and Film Bay of Plenty for the ‘He Kōrero Tuku Iho – Stories Carried Forward’ community storytelling project. Additionally, $50,000 is allocated to ‘The Writers Lab’, a script development intensive for female and non-binary screenwriters over the age of 40 in both Australia and New Zealand.
