SCS Software has announced several content expansions and technical updates for its simulation titles, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.

Initial announcements detailed upcoming downloadable content (DLC), including a ‘Coaches’ expansion that introduces bus management and customization, and the ‘Soul of Anatolia’ DLC featuring Turkish landscapes. The developer also planned to showcase projects at the Tokyo Game Show 2026.

Following these announcements, the company released version 1.61 for both titles. This update introduces a ‘Proximity Exploration’ mechanic designed to make map completion more intuitive by automatically revealing nearby routes and secret roads as players approach them. 

Visual improvements have been implemented through an enhanced material system providing more realistic lighting and reflections for surfaces like leather, plastic, and metal. In American Truck Simulator, this upgrade specifically affects the International LT and International LoneStar models, while Euro Truck Simulator 2 sees improvements for various Volvo FH Series models. 

The update also serves as preparation for upcoming major content releases. American Truck Simulator includes new freight options, such as seed containers and trusses, alongside map adjustments for the future ‘Road Trip’ project. Euro Truck Simulator 2 features overhauled livestock trailers and map updates to bus stations in locations including Karlstad, Aarhus, Thessaloniki, and Heraklion in anticipation of the ‘Coaches’ mode.
