Sea and OpenAI are conducting the Sea x OpenAI Regional Codex Hackathon Series across the Asia-Pacific region to engage developer communities. The initiative provides developers, students, and startups with hands-on experience using OpenAI’s Codex and other frontier models to build practical software.

Following previous editions in Singapore and Taiwan, the series announced a stop in Bangkok, Thailand, scheduled for November 21, 2026. This follows reports of significant AI engagement in Thailand, where Codex usage has increased more than 350 times since the start of the year.

In December 2026, the series will move to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, under the theme ‘Solving Unmet Needs with AI’. The Malaysian event aims to support the country’s goal of becoming an ‘AI Nation’ by 2030. Participants in the series can receive mentorship from technical specialists and compete for prizes such as API credits.
