Recent reports indicate various incidents involving sea lions across coastal regions in Mexico, Chile, and Brazil.

In Mexico, an injured sea lion was assisted by bystanders at Las Glorias beach in Guasave after being found near a restaurant area. In Iquique, Chile, a sea lion bit a fisherman at Caleta Riquelme. Local workers noted that the animals are increasingly approaching commercial stalls, potentially due to fish scraps and tourists feeding them.

In Brazil, four South American sea lions were released into the ocean at Praia do Cassino in Rio Grande after rehabilitation by the Marine Animal Recovery Center. One of these animals was equipped with a GPS tracker to monitor movements in the South Atlantic as part of environmental requirements for seismic research. Additionally, a weakened one year old male pup was rescued from Jaconé Beach in Saquarema and transported to a center in Maricá for medical care.
