A family from Versailles, France, initiated an intensive search for their two-year-old black cat, Chanel, after the pet escaped from a vehicle during a rest stop at the L’Isle-d’Abeau highway service area on August 8.

The family cancelled their planned vacation to the Dévoluy mountains to focus on the search, utilizing social media, cameras, and cage traps. These efforts, often conducted between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, were supported by local residents, animal welfare organizations, and approximately thirty volunteers.

After nearly a month, the search concluded successfully. Despite a 500-euro reward attracting some “bad actors,” Chanel was located approximately 200 meters from her original escape point. She has since returned to her family in Paris in good health.
