Police in Upper Bavaria and Austria are conducting an extensive search for 25-year-old Carolin Schmidt, who has been missing since early September. Initially, authorities focused on the area around Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Mittenwald, and the Wettersteinspitze in the border region between Germany and Austria.

As the search progressed, investigators identified new leads suggesting the hiker may have traveled into the Tyrolean mountains in Austria. Search efforts have expanded to include areas around Ehrwald, Gaistal, and Leutasch, specifically targeting locations such as Sonnenspitze and the Coburger Hütte. Additionally, authorities are investigating an unusual stop the woman made in Weilheim, Oberbayern, on September 4, which her family noted was not part of her original travel plans.
