Violence and security concerns have escalated in various Chilean regions. In Quilicura, a symbolic wake for a murder victim turned violent, involving gunfire, fireworks, and the burning of a vehicle. The local mayor, Paulina Bobadilla, requested a police takeover and potential military support, stating the municipality lacks the tools to confront organized crime alone.

In the Biobío region, the death of a Carabineros officer during a procedure led the Chilean government to decree three days of national mourning.
