In October 2026, security incidents involving members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were reported in different regions.

In Plateau State, gunmen attacked the Pushit community in the Mangu Local Government Area. During the raid, attackers abducted a businessman and killed Distu Garba Audu, a Deputy Superintendent of the NSCDC, who was shot after his motorcycle headlight reportedly exposed the kidnappers’ movement. The incident has prompted local concerns regarding the effectiveness of existing security measures.

In Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command arrested Onoja Samuel, an NSCDC Deputy Superintendent, following an incident at Kubwa Market. Samuel allegedly fired several shots into the air with a pistol after a confrontation with traders regarding the alleged assault of his wife. He remains in custody pending investigation and court charges.
