Sega is expanding its physical retail presence through a transmedia strategy designed to create “touchpoints” for its intellectual property (IP), including games, characters, movies, and music. This shift follows the 2020 sale of its amusement facility business to GENDA.

The company announced the opening of SEGA STORE OSAKA in the Shinsaibashi PARCO complex in Osaka. As the brand’s third permanent shop worldwide, following locations in Shanghai and Tokyo, it marks Sega’s first permanent store in the Kansai region. The retail space is intended to serve as a communication hub where staff can share development backgrounds with fans and gather consumer feedback. The store will feature immersive technology, such as large transparent double-sided LED displays, and offer Osaka-exclusive merchandise.
